Ghana booked a place in the semi-finals of the tournament after two goals from brothers Andre and Jordan Ayew – either side of an equalizer from Mpoku – consigned the Leopards to a 2-1 defeat.
Jordan – who described his goal as “really, really important” – could not hold back his tears after opening his account for the tournament.
And the 25-year old has now revealed the reason behind his teary celebration after scoring his first goal of the tournament.
“You know as a striker you will always want to score. But it’s just that you score some goals that are really, really important and you see your team-mates so happy, you see the bench so happy, you see the supporters so happy, you see the country so happy,” Jordan said in the post match interview.

“So when you think about all these things, it makes you so emotional. And as a kid I always dreamt to score in the big games, and I thank God that happened.”
On Thursday’s semi-final clash against Cameroon, Jordan said: “It’s just a quarter-finals and we have another big game against Cameroon. It will be a very tough game but, like I said, we have to keep on going.”
The Black Stars are looking to end 35-year trophy drought which dates back to 1982 when they last won the Africa Cup of Nations.
