Liberty Professionals unveil new kits for 2016/17 season

The Dansoman-based club has outdoored new kits for their home and away matches in the coming season.

The launch, which was held at the Impact Hub in Osu, saw a packed crowd troop in to see the side’s new kits. Liberty Professionals captain Samuel Sarfo, together with midfielder Tamimu Montari among other players, modeled in the new kits to give fans a gist of what to expect when the season begins.

The kits – produced by Mayniak Sports Wear Limited – are made of water-dry fabrics to suit African weather conditions. The jerseys have good elasticity to avoid wearing off, with holes on the side, to allow ventilation.

The home stripe is rounded in white with red and blue linings cutting in between. The kit goes with colourful white holes.

However, the away kit is rounded in red with a blue and white lining passed through in the front view, matching with red holes. Both home and away kits have LPFC (Liberty Professionals Football Club) boldly inscribed on the holes.

The Project Head of Mayniak Sports Wear, Abdul Rashid Zakari, expressed gratitude to the General Manager of Liberty Professionals, Dr. Godfred Akoto Boafo, for entrusting the making of the club’s kits into the hands of his outfit.

He was optimistic that the partnership was a step in the right direction, adding that the kits will help players feel comfortable on the field since it perfectly suits the African weather.

“Most of the fabrics we use are BET materials; that is bottle. So basically that’s what we have been using. This is more like the same material that Nike uses most of the time,” Mr. Abdul said in an exclusive interview with Pulse.com.gh.

“As I said earlier on, we are now starting [to produce] so by all means we will copy one or two things from some firms here and there [referring to the holes on the side of the jerseys which is synonymous with Nike jerseys]. But this is more like an ultra dry [kit] and when players become wet, they get dried up as soon as possible. So that is more of it.”

Liberty Professionals skipper Samuel Sarfo also lauded the initiative. The defender was particularly impressed with the quality of the jerseys describing them as “one of a kind”, before praising the overall organization of the launching ceremony.

“It is a very nice costume, because I feel so comfortable in it. You know I have been with Liberty [Professionals] for a very long time now and I have worn a lot of jerseys, but I must attest to the fact that this jersey is one of a kind,” Sarfo told Pulse Sports.

“The club getting this this sponsorship, I think it’s a good step. Some other players and teams will soon show interest [in partnering with Mayniak] because they have already started asking who the sponsors of our jerseys are.

“Getting such a [quality] jersey is going to reflect in our performances. It is going to boost us a lot. Because in the history of Liberty we have never done this [kit launch and photo-shoot] before. And the club putting up this partnership with Mayniak [Sports Wear] and starting the whole season with such a show will also be a major boost.”

Liberty Professionals will kickstart the 2016/17 season with an away fixture against Asante Kotoko. This is the first time in the history of the club that their kits have been officially launched before the commencement of a league season.
