The Aston Villa striker was the object of scrutiny after Ghana’s first group game against Uganda in the Africa Cup of Nations.

The striker's profligacy and indecision in the game against the Cranes drew the ire of many Ghanaians who criticised his displays.

However, a series of improved performances in the subsequent games has earned Jordan the praise of many.

Jordan scored an impressive solo goal to open the scoring in Ghana’s 2-1 win of DR Congo.

The 25-year-old was put through by a pass from Christian Atsu, before going past two defenders to curl a beauty into the right corner.

His coach has been impressed with his recent outputs, especially after star striker Asamoah Gyan was ruled out of the match through injury.

Grant insists, though the absence of the skipper was felt, Jordan Ayew and the rest of the team were equally up to task.

“We missed him (referring to Asamoah Gyan), because you know he is a top striker. You know what he can do. But Jordan [Ayew[ did a fantastic job. And the other players really played good football and they actually did a good job,” the Israeli said in the post match conference.

Ghana will now face Cameroon in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday.
