NDC sets date for Bunkpurugu primary

The primaries in Bunkpurugu was suspended by the party following a law suit filed against it at a Tamale High Court by one of the aspiring parliamentary candidates, Mr. Namburr Berrick.

The Tamale High Court on Wednesday gave the NDC the go ahead to hold its parliamentary primary in the Bunkpurugu constituency to select a candidate to contest on the party's ticket for this year's general elections.

This was after the court presided over by Mr Justice Charles Gyamfi  upheld a decision by the National Executive Committee of the party to disqualify one of the aspirants who filed his nomination to contest the party's parliamentary primary in the constituency.

The plaintiff in the case, Mr Berrick was disqualified by the party as a result of his alleged association with the National Democratic Party (NDP).

He later filed an injunction to prevent the party from going ahead with the primary. The injunction application was granted. However, on Wednesday, the Tamale Court upheld the earlier decision of the party to disqualify him. Two others were also disqualified.

This means those who are eligible to contest the primary are Anthony Gingong,  Bonchel Abdulai,  Japong Tahidu,  Kolan Azumah  and Dr Benson Kolan.
