Touted to be the world’s largest broadband provider, China Telecom has joined the Wireless Broadband Alliance (WBA).

Officials of the telecom giant say it is a strategic alliance that will give them more leverage, adding that it will also encourage WiFi roaming.

CEO for Wireless Broadband Alliance, Shrikant Shenwai said “What’s more, their extensive network footprint across airports, hotels, restaurants will be of great significance to WBA member operators and WiFi industry players interested in roaming access in China.”

According to Mr.Yan Ou, Deputy Managing Director, International Business Department of China Telecom 'We’re committed to providing best quality Wi Fi service for consumers and corporate customers, and our roaming partners. We’ve installed best in class communications equipment, and we continue to increase Wi Fi coverage in China and its application in industries, such as Smart Cities and Logistics.'
