It's with great sorrow that we must share the news that Jason Sudeikis, beloved star of Saturday Night Live and Horrible Bosses, made a surprise cameo appearance on Jon Favreau's The Mandalorian. Normally, this would be good news, but unfortunately, there's a twist: he plays a storm trooper who stuffs Baby Yoda in a bag, and punchesPUNCHES!the little green creature. Straight to jail, Jason Sudeikis; sorry, we don't make the rules.

Throughout The Mandalorian's first season, Jon Favreau has been flexing his comedy muscles. Not only has the showrunner (and director of movies like Elf and The Lion King) made viewers laugh quite a few times, but he's showcased some of his funny friends in key roles. While that list has included people like Bill Burr , Amy Sedaris , and with the latest episode, Sudeikis joins that list.

To be fair, his character gets his comeuppance rather quickly. After bantering (!) a bit with another storm trooper (played by another recognizable comedy face in Happy Endings star Adam Pally), the pair is pretty swiftly beaten up and taken out by Taika Waititi' s newly-lovable droid IG-11.

Sudeikis, who most recently appeared on last week's Saturday Night Live as Joe Biden and earlier this year in his partner Olivia Wilde's fantastic film Booksmart, probably only did voiceover work herehe's got experience there in the Angry Birds movies and the short-lived Fox sitcom Son of Zorn. But that's part of why his voice was so unmistakablehe's just got a certain cadence and a way of saying things that is pretty naturally funny.

And honestly? Even though he was committing a cardinal sin of humanity in PUNCHING Baby Yoda, he totally owned that scene. The idea that Storm Troopers can have a little bit of 'tude to go along with all that bad aim is very fun. More in season two, please!
