In an interview on 3FM Drive with Giovanni Caleb, the "Toto" hitmaker revealed that MUSIGA membership is increasingly sought for the sole purpose of securing membership cards to expedite visa applications for overseas travel. He expressed skepticism about the union's potential to fulfill its core objectives.
"Mostly, people join MUSIGA because they want to travel abroad. They obtain the membership card for visa application purposes, and apart from that, there's little else they engage in," Edem noted.
While acknowledging the past contributions of MUSIGA under the leadership of individuals such as Sidiku Buari and Diana Hopeson, Edem emphasized the necessity for MUSIGA to operate as a business to effectively serve the interests of musicians and ensure its long-term viability.
He congratulated the newly elected MUSIGA President, Bessa Simons, while expressing his reservations about the union's future prospects.
