William Kusi, the legal representative of Akosua Serwaa, has accused the head of the late Daddy Lumba’s family of being the root cause of the ongoing legal dispute between the musician’s widow and other relatives.

Speaking to the media after a court hearing on Thursday, 16 October 2025, Kusi revealed that the injunction application seeking to halt Daddy Lumba’s funeral had been adjourned to 28 October.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the lawyer said efforts were underway to counter what he described as “propaganda” following the musician’s passing. According to him, those who had previously spread misinformation were now retracting their claims as the truth began to unfold.

“Those who started the propaganda are now coiling because the truth is coming out,” Kusi remarked. “Unfortunately, there are new developments which have not yet been made public. But we will ensure that the right thing is done.”

When asked about his client’s emotional state, the lawyer admitted that Akosua Serwaa was deeply upset by recent events but felt compelled to act because of how she had been treated by the family head.

“She is disappointed; she wished it never came to this,” he stated. “Unfortunately, the posture of the family head caused the problem. When letters are written to deny you your rights as a wife, you can’t simply ignore it. That is what triggered everything.”

Kusi further revealed that one of Daddy Lumba’s sisters appeared in court to support Akosua Serwaa, a gesture he said reflected the affection some family members still have for her.

“I have the sister of Daddy Lumba here, and she represented Akosua Serwaa in court. That shows the kind of love the family still holds for her,” he added.

In a statement dated 16 October 2025 and signed by the secretary of the Fosuh family, Akosua Serwaa insisted that the remains of her late husband must not be moved until the court concludes its ruling on the ongoing legal battle over his funeral arrangements.

“Until the court delivers its final decision, no person or group, including Mr Kofi Owusu (the Abusuapanin) and his associates, has the lawful authority to claim or remove the body of the deceased from the Transition Funeral Home in Haatso, Accra. Any such act would constitute a breach of ongoing court proceedings and could result in serious legal repercussions,” the statement read.

The statement, jointly issued by Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba’s elder sister, Ernestina Fosuh, expressed faith in the judicial process and optimism that the outcome would set a strong legal precedent for protecting the rights of lawful spouses in similar disputes.

“The Fosuh family remains confident that the rule of law will prevail and that the dignity of the late Mr Charles Fosuh will be upheld. We also believe that this case will establish an important legal benchmark, safeguarding the rights of legitimate spouses and women facing similar challenges across Ghana,” the statement continued.

The legal tussle stems from a case filed by Akosua Serwaa at the Kumasi High Court on 2 October 2025. In the suit, she accused the family head and other relatives of deliberately excluding her from planning her husband’s funeral.

She is seeking a court injunction to halt the ongoing funeral preparations, alongside a declaration recognising her as the only lawful wife of the late musician, thereby granting her sole rights to perform the widowhood rites.

During the initial hearing on 16 October 2025, presided over by Justice Dorinda Smith Arthur, lawyers representing Kofi Owusu and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as “Odo Broni,” questioned Akosua Serwaa’s legal capacity to initiate the case.

However, her counsel countered their objection, arguing that the court must first address their motion for an injunction before entertaining any other challenges.

A High Court in Kumasi has postponed to 28 October 2025 the hearing of a case filed by Mrs Akosua Serwaa, the wife of the late Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. She is seeking a judicial declaration recognising her as the sole surviving spouse and the only person entitled to perform widowhood rites at his funeral.

Daddy Lumba passed away on 26 July 2025, and his final funeral rites are scheduled for 6 December 2025 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. However, those plans could face disruption following the legal challenge brought by Mrs Serwaa against Mr Kofi Owusu Fosu, the head of the musician’s extended family, and Ms Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni. The suit contests the organisation of the funeral and raises questions surrounding the circumstances of the singer’s death.

She maintains that she remains Daddy Lumba’s lawful wife, and neither she nor her children were consulted when the family announced the funeral date , which they allegedly learned about through social media.

According to her, her marriage to the late musician remained “valid and legally binding” at the time of his death. She further claims that the family head informed her that she would not be allowed to perform the widowhood rites , a role traditionally reserved for a deceased man’s legal spouse.

She also alleges that after Lumba’s passing, “a woman identified as Odo Broni suddenly emerged, claiming to have been married to him and to share children with him.”

Mrs Serwaa argues that the family’s decision to permit Odo Broni to perform the widowhood rites is unlawful and disrespectful, insisting that unless the court intervenes, she will be unjustly denied her rightful position as the only legally recognised wife of the late highlife legend.

Ghanaian dancehall icon Charles Nii Armah Mensah, widely known as Shatta Wale, has shared his thoughts on how the government should improve its treatment of citizens, urging for greater respect and fairness towards the people who contribute to the nation’s growth.

During an interview on JoyPrime on 15 October 2025, the self-acclaimed “King of African Dancehall” reflected on his recent encounter with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), revealing that the experience went beyond a personal ordeal and negatively impacted the broader creative arts industry.

“It did not only affect my brand; I believe it affected the entire creative sector. It might be Shatta Wale today, tomorrow, it could be someone else. I am not above the law of this country, and I never let fame get into my head,” he stated.

The “On God” hitmaker further argued that the government should show equal care and consideration to all citizens, not just those in political positions. “When there’s a problem in this country, we see how the president is treated when he’s unwell, how he’s discreetly flown abroad for medical care. That same level of concern should be shown to every important person in Ghana,” he remarked.

Shatta Wale also made a bold claim about his economic influence, asserting that his contributions to Ghana’s economy through entertainment and job creation surpass those of major government ministries. “I can confidently say that I have made more money for this country than the Ministry of Finance or the Ministry of Tourism. I have created jobs and generated real income,” he declared.

Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Stonebwoy has boldly declared that comparing him to Shatta Wale on a lyrical level would be unfair, claiming “the difference is clear.”

During an interview with Headless YouTuber, the host jokingly presented a hypothetical scenario in which businessman Ibrahim Mahama and Dr. Osei Kwame Despite consider organising a charity boxing match between the long-time music rivals to raise funds for a good cause.

But Stonebwoy quickly shut down the idea. “Am I a boxer?” he asked rhetorically, repeating the question to emphasise his disbelief. When the interviewer clarified that it was intended for charity, Stonebwoy responded again, “Am I a boxer?”

He went on to explain that even a lyrical face-off would be pointless, arguing that it would not be a fair match. “Even if you want to extend that conversation to a lyrical battle, you know, it’s not something that is compatible because it would be like I’m cheating somebody,” he said. “Because the difference is clear. Let everybody do their thing, you know. We shall meet at the top.”

Stonebwoy addressed his long-standing tensions with Shatta Wale, clarifying that no one in the industry deliberately targets or insults the SM boss. According to the “Therapy” hitmaker, musicians in Ghana’s entertainment scene do not wake up with the intention of attacking Shatta Wale.

He explained, it is the “Ayoo” crooner who often initiates conflict by going online to rant, criticise, and pick fights with colleagues , even those who have shown him nothing but respect. “No artiste will just wake up in the morning, pick his camera, and go live to insult or attack Shatta Wale. But he does that, and not just once or twice. He goes hard on almost everyone in the industry,” Stonebwoy stated.

He went on to add that Shatta Wale’s repeated outbursts have turned him into his own worst enemy, as his constant confrontations push people away instead of promoting unity. “Shatta Wale is his own enemy. He keeps ranting about issues and going hard on people unnecessarily. That’s why people react the way they do. It’s not an attack , it’s a reaction,” Stonebwoy emphasised. The dancehall musician concluded by urging for maturity, respect, and collaboration among Ghanaian artistes, stressing that continuous feuds only hold back the growth of the music industry.
