The electoral commission, in a short ceremony at the Party Headquarters of the NDC, has endorsed results of the primaries held on Saturday and Sunday.
President Mahama got a 95.1 percent endorsement to carry on as flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress for the 2016 national elections. The percentage represents 1,199,118 of total votes cast, while those who voted no were 61,836 representing 4.9 percent of total votes cast.
Total valid votes were 1,260,954 with total rejected ballots being 25,774 representing 2 percent of total votes cast.
Speaking at the ceremony at the Party's headquarters Sunday night , President Mahama asked for unity in the party in the wake of the primaries.

Campaign for the November 2016 general elections will now continue in ernest with the end of the primaries.
However, there is still the small matter of the need for the president to name a running mate for the elecitons.
Almost all hands point the vice president Paa Kwasi Bekoe Amissah- Arthur, as no other contender has been mentioned thus far.
