Speaking to Pulse.com.gh, Sidney said he was announcing his intention just to remind the minister of his promise.
“We have few days to the end of the year. So being a good record keeper, I’m just reminding him of what he said. If he is able to fix it, why not? We will do a party for him; but if he is unable to, I think he should do the honourable thing by resigning as Power Minister. It’s not like I’m demonstrating against ‘dumsor’ [erratic power supply]; we’ve done that already. I’m demonstrating against the man. If the deadline elapses, I will be the one to stage the demonstration,” he said.
Asked why he did not consider involving his colleagues in the industry just as it was done during the May 16 vigil against the load shedding, Barima said, “This is a sole project I’m doing. Some of my friends are aware. They support me in principle. If they join me, why not?”

According to Barima, he will stage the demonstration by end of January 2016 if the minister is unable to fix the problem.
Ghana’s energy crisis has lingered on for close to three years. President Mahama, since 2012 has made several promises of an end to the crisis, but each deadline passed while the situation got worse. Many businesses have laid off workers because of high production cost as they resort to the use of generators.
