The Former First Lady said this in an interview on Starr Chat, adding that she likes songs by veteran highlife artiste, Kojo Antwi.

“I enjoy Kojo Antwi’s songs and that of Shatta Wale. Unfortunately I can’t sing any lines in the song… I think I like Kakai,” she said.

‘Kakai’ is a dancehall tune produced by Shatta Wale (the Maker) and released in 2015. The song, described by many as a “banger” enjoyed massive airplay and was one of the hit songs in 2015.

Shatta Wale’s perceived rival, Samini, in June 2016 admitted that ‘Kakai’ is a masterpiece.

“The song, Kakai is a nice song. I like it and it has catchy hooks and for me, that makes it a banger,” he said in an interview on GhOne Television.

President John Mahama has also declared his admiration for the song and has commended Shatta Wale for his creativity.

Known in private life as Charles Nii Armah Junior, Shatta Wale released almost hundred songs in 2015 and hopes to break that record.

According to Amanzeba, aside Mahama’s ability to govern the country, he admires the first gentleman of the land. He noted that his admiration increased after Mahama in an interview mentioned him as his favourite artiste.

Amanzeba intimated that although he has respect for <a href="http://pulse.com.gh/celebrities/election-2016-wisa-declares-support-for-nana-addo-id5042883.html" id="2cefd1eb-98b6-5419-bfeb-8a0a7b4f99d3">Nana Akufo-Addo</a>, presidential candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), he supports Mahama because they are friends.

“Parties don’t attract me. I look at personalities, the relationship I have with you. I have a lot of respect for Nana Akufo-Addo, I have a lot of respect for Mahama but what makes me relate to Mahama is, a sitting president goes for an interview in the whole of United States and says Amanzeba is his favourite artiste and you think it’s a joke?” he said on Adom FM’s Work and Happiness.

Amanzeba indicated that the relationship between him and Mahama has existed for long. The musician recounted visiting him [Mahama] during his days as the vice president of the country.

“[He was my friend] before he became the vice president and president. When he was the vice president, my uncle was the president. Professor Mills was my uncle. And whenever I went to the castle, I spent more time with him than my uncle. You show loyalty to friends,” he noted.

The former member of defunct NAKOREX music group however wished Nana Addo well and urged all to support whoever is elected president.

He disclosed that he respects Kwabena Kwabena for declaring his support for Nana Addo.

“You know why I respect Kwabena Kwabena very well? Because he comes out to state his position. Why will people have a problem with him stating his position?” he said.

For winning the contest, <a href="http://pulse.com.gh/campus/nsmq-2016-adisadel-college-wins-2016-national-science-and-maths-quiz-id5207710.html" id="2da34a3d-2e3d-5cdf-94cc-c9bb22f01c2a">Adisadel College</a>, take home a cash prize of GHS 40,000 while the contestants and teachers get GHS 15,000 each.

Runners up, Opoku Ware School gets a cash prize of GHS 30,000, with the contestants and teachers getting GHS 10,000.

For placing third, Mfantsipim School walks home with GHS 20,000, with contestants and teachers getting GHS 5,000.

Mrs Dwamena-Aboagye however called on the NPP and other leaders in the country to call Hon. Agyapong to order since his remark is despicable.

“I know members of this party who are honourable people, upright in society… I’m not the one to direct the party but I think this is the time to put their best foot forward especially for women,” she noted.

Asked if Mr Agyapong is deserving of the office of an MP following his controversial remarks, Mrs Dwamena-Aboagye replied, “He must have some good qualities. His people are voting for him because they see something in him. Everybody has their good sides and bad sides. The good thing to know is, rational human beings will subject themselves to correction. When someone calls you to order, you must be humble to admit you did wrong and apologise.”

His assertion is based on the fact that event organisers do not engage the services of highlife musicians because these musicians perform with live band and this comes with a cost compared to musicians from other genres who will appear on stage and mime.

On how DJs are killing the genre, Dada Hafco said radio presenters and DJs draw their playlist according to BPMs [beat Per Minute] leaving out some good songs which do not fall within a certain tempo.

“Highlife songs are not supposed to run on BPM’s. I don’t do music looking at the speed at which it goes, whether 120 or 110. The music comes forth to me as an inspiration, so whether reggae or mid-tempo or fast tempo, all I do is to deliver good content and I am good to go. DJs are always after BPM running from 120 or 119 and because most highlife tunes do not have them, they resort to other genres, ignoring highlife,” flexgh.com quotes him to have said.

Dada Hafco believes Ghana music will perform creditably well if the necessary attention is given it. He has stressed on the need for radio stations to give local songs rotation than foreign songs.

“If we could scrap that and give a lot of attention to Ghanaian stuff, we will definitely go on sale outside. If hip life started like this and Sarkodie is filling the Apollo’s then, highlife can do same too. To go international is broad but we must first start from here. We need to champion ourselves and if we do, outsiders will give attention to us.

“The recent generation has come to accept that, it is only in highlife you will get good content, lyrics and groove with proper instrumentation all put together. A lot of musicians like me, Okyeame Kwame, Sarkodie, Keche and the likes are following the trend of highlife and gradually the genre is bouncing back and with time everyone will descend to it.“Highlife is Ghana. I was born into it but did hip life and after realizing that is what will put us on the map like it did with Nana Ampadu, E.T Mensah, Rex Omar and others, with the help of enough pushing, we can get out there,” he added.

A number of musicians have added their voice to the call for a legislation which will compel radio presenters and DJs to play 90% local songs. This, they believe will help promote local songs and artistes instead of foreign products.

However, highlife musician, Rex Omar, opines it should not take a legislation to compel radio stations to play more local songs but common sense.

He shares the view that playing local songs is just like purchasing made in Ghana goods which goes a long way to help grow the economy.

“This is just common sense, just like someone saying buy made in Ghana goods. Music is also a product… If you play foreign songs on radio stations and you are to pay royalties, it means you are paying for foreign songs. It’s a matter of you looking inward to develop your economy. The more Ghanaian music is played, the more the money remains in Ghana; the more you will entrench your culture,” Rex Omar told host, Abrantepa on Radio Univers’ mid-morning show, Brunch2Lunch in May 2016.

But speaking on Accra FM’s Entertainment Capital, Moesha said she cares less about such comments but pays attention to those related to her work.

She believes she is insulted because of how curvaceous she is, adding that slim celebrities are not chastised for putting out similar photographs.

“I cannot be bothered because they don’t know me, it’s just a picture. If you’re going to look at a picture and judge me, that’s your own [business] because you need to know me, to know who I am to judge… But when it comes to critique about my work, I take it seriously, especially, when it comes to my movies… I have done some few movies that people said they didn’t like my acting so I just try to improve upon it and that is what I take very seriously, but when it comes to comments on my Instagram about my pictures, no,” she noted.

Moesha has starred in a new television series, Cocoa Brown which is produced by radio and television personality, Deloris Frimpong-Manso, popularly known as Delay.

She was part of the cast of Amakye and Dede.

The actress has been slammed on several occasions for exposing her cleavages at events.
