Though Nhyiaeso, in Kumasi, is a safe seat for the NPP, candidates of the various political parties contesting in the parliamentary race are contesting for the first time as the incumbent MP Dr. Richard Anane lost in the constituency primaries of the NPP.

Kofi Debrah Afrifah is coming against a well marketed former organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Kankam and the former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Samuel Sarpong.

Addressing the media at the Ashanti regional headquarters of the PPP, Mr. Debrah Afrifa indicated that though the lines appear to be stiffly drawn for all contesting parties; he sees the PPP emerging as winners come November 2016.
“Everybody is saying Nhyiaeso is very strong and I know that the NPP has dominated the constituency for a very long time. But looking at what Dr. Anane has done, it’s now time for us to also change things for people to also know what the PPP has under our sleeves, and we believe we have a lot that makes our chance so bright,” he said.
Kofi Debrah Afrifa indicated that his works in mobilizing youth in the constituency for communal activities has earned him some clouts and mileage in the Nhyiaeso Constituency.
