A broadcast journalist with one of the local radio stations in Kumasi, Ms Bertrin Amponsah Biritwum, has declared her intention to contest the Manhyia North Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP).
According to her, her decision to contest was to debunk the perception that politics was mainly a field for men.

She said with her campaign message and strategy, she is hopeful of capturing the seat.
The radio broadcaster believes the constituency has lots of human resources that could be harnessed for the development of the area.
If elected, she hopes to establish a constituency development fund similar to the district assemblies common fund for infrastructural projects in the area.
These projects included the provision of places of convenience as well as refuse containers for several basic schools in the constituency.
She also hopes to partner with the district assembly to develop some of the deplorable roads in the area.
