Six suspects break jail

Six suspected criminals Wednesday escaped from the custody of the Abofour Police in the Offinso South municipality in the Ashanti Region.

Confirming the news to the Daily Graphic, the Offinso District Police Commander, Superintendent Michael Boateng, said two of the suspects were to be put before the Offinso Circuit Court on  suspicion of murder and stealing.

He said the names of the six are Iddrisu Yahaya, aka K2; Kofi Agyare, aka Bongo; Kwame Frimpong, aka Rambo;  Pasoley Mahmound, Baba Evans and Akwasi Grumah.

According to him, one of the suspected criminals, Akwasi Grumah was standing trial for committing murder, while the remaining five were all to be prosecuted for alleged stealing.

Superintendent Michael Boateng described the ‘jail break’ as "a big blow" to the district command.

Meanwhile, a search has been mounted to re-arrest the suspects.
