Sports and entertainment will take center stage at the maiden edition of the Global Football Festival on Friday, December 27, 2024.

This exciting event will bring together key stakeholders in the world of sports, Ghanaian football legends, and renowned musicians for a packed day of sporting activities and fun at the Asamoah Gyan Sports Complex inside Accra Academy.

The Global Football Festival will also welcome the return of Ghanaian football stars playing outside to share their experience and expertise with aspiring footballers in the country.

Additionally, an eight-team football competition will be held under the watch of international football scouts, who will monitor and select the best talents for an opportunity to play in Europe.

The festival will feature the first-ever football museum and a player parade highlighting Ghana’s footballing achievements. Celebrated Ghanaian sports journalist Gary Al-Smith, speaking yesterday at a press soiree for the festival, said this is an exciting initiative that must be championed by stakeholders in the sports fraternity.

It gets even more exciting as the day grows with some of Ghana’s biggest show-stoppers taking over the main stage with back-to-back electrifying performances. Legendary duo R2Bees will be headlining the show alongside Fante rap heavyweight Pappy Kojo and “Killy Killy” hit-maker Larusso. There will be other surprise artists on the night to entertain attendees.

To accompany the celebration of sports and entertainment, Ghanaian food, arts, and crafts will be on display alongside the music and talent haunt.

Plans are in place to make this an annual festival, according to Baba Sadiq, one of the founders of FulL CircL Africa – organisers of the festival together with football agency Kick Nation.

The first step is to ensure that we have a successful first year event and we already have plans to ensure that second year is also successful. We have at least a three-year plan to ensure that back to back every year we have a successful global event from Ghana, and then on the back of the success of the third year event, we can build on it.

The Global Football Festival promises to deliver an unforgettable experience where the beats of Ghanaian music meet the unifying spirit of football.
