It will be very dangerous to hand over power to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer, Nana Akufo Addo.

This is according to President John Dramani Mahama who is also the Presidential nominee of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

President Mahama explained that this is because Nana Addo is leading a party that is divided.

The President was speaking at Bimbilla in the Northern Region during his campaign tour to his home region.

“What we need in Ghana is an understanding President. The era of dictatorship is gone. We are not looking for a dictator, somebody who can’t stand criticism. Within his own party, if you criticise him he will sack you. We are looking for a leader who can bring people together,” the NDC flagbearer added.

But in a response to the President, spokesperson of Nana Addo said the NPP is much organised considering the manner in which the party handled its issues.

“If the NPP has shown itself to be a party that will let the rod fall on whoever falls foul of its laws and procedure, then I think that is a party that we can entrust the destiny of Ghana… an NPP government will be a government that will let the law apply,” he said.
