2 arrested for stealing and slaughtering chief's pregnant cow

The Bolgatanga East Police  have arrested two butchers at the Bolgatanga abattoir for allegedly stealing and slaughtering a pregnant cow belonging to the chief of Gambiigo, Naba Saeed Musah Abukbakar Sadik Anun-egra.

The police have confirmed the incident and arrests, but have declined to give further details, saying they are still gathering intelligence as other names that are connected with the crime are emerging.

Son of the Gambiigo chief, Prince Sadik Ayine Inusah said they woke up on Sunday dawn only to realise the biggest among the herd of cattle which was also pregnant, was nowhere to be found.

He said they later found out that the cow had been slaughtered, “So, we informed my family because I was now getting pissed off and we said that we must search everywhere in the community and this time around we included the search to the Bolga cattle slaughter house.”

Mr Ayine Inusah said one Kojo Billah at the slaughter house told them that his master, one Shuaiba, had asked him to slaughter the cow.

The prince said Shuaibu tried negotiating with them for an amicable settlement but they insisted the matter be reported to the police.
