Chamber of Commerce advocates financial packages for women in SMEs

Players in Ghana's SMEs continue to battle with access to credit. It is to this end that the Chamber of Commerce is calling on stakeholders to help enrol financial packages for the sector.

The Ghana Chamber Of Commerce and Industry has called on stakeholders to provide some financial incentives for women in the rural areas to enable them to start their own businesses.

This move, according to the Chamber will help stimulate growth in the rural areas.

The revealed this plan as Ghana joined the world to celebrate International Women’s Day today.

Ghana adopted the theme “Economic empowerment of rural women: A tool for sustainable development in a changing world of work.

Women Organizer for the Ghana Chamber of Commerce and Industry Dr Regina Degadzor said government must allocate some financial packages for women in SMEs to boost their business.

“If government can quote some money for women in SMEs and grassroots women, just something small to support so they can enhance their businesses for their business to grow because we visit women in the regions and all they need is something like Ghc200 t0 Gh¢500 not up to Ghc1000 just to boost their business” .

International Women’s Day, originally called International Working Women’s Day, and is celebrated on March 8 every year. It commemorates the struggle for women’s rights.
