The couple met while attending Whitehouse High School in Texas. On Instagram, Mahomes shared photos of the high school sweethearts attending prom together senior year. Gotta love that color-coordinated bowtie/corsage situation.
"Best prom date a guy could ask for!!" Mahomes wrote in the caption.
Mahomes graduated high school in 2013, a year before Matthews, and attended Texas Tech, where he initially played both college baseball and football. After two years, he stopped playing baseball to focus on football. His junior year, he led all NCAA Division I players in both passing yards (5,052 yards) and passing touchdowns (53 touchdowns). After his junior year, he was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round (10th overall).

All the while, he remained in a relationship with Matthews, who was accomplishing her own athletic goals . After graduating high school with a degree in kinesiology, Matthews went to play college soccer at the University of Texas, another Division I school. When Mahomes went to play in the NFL, she went to play soccer professionally in Iceland with UMF Afturelding/Fram.
"Every coach I have had at UT Tyler made a huge impact on my love for this game and my decision to play professional soccer," Matthews told the Morning Telegraph . "An opportunity opened up for me in Iceland and I could never pass up such an amazing experience to go do what I love."
Matthews stayed in Iceland for less than a year. Her team won its league in September of 2017, and by October, she was already living in Kansas City.
In 2018, Mahomes' sophomore year in the NFL, he became the starting quarterback for the Chiefs.
After completing 5,097 years and 50 touchdowns, he was named the NFL MVP, making him in the history of the NFL to earn the title. He won numerous additional titles and awards his first year as starting quarterback, including being named to the 2019 Pro Bowl and earning the Kansas City Club 101 Awards AFC Offensive Player of the Year.
During this time, Matthews became a certified fitness instructor. She also launched Brittany Lynne Fitness , a website that offers training programs and fitness merchandise designed by Matthews.

After living a part for so long, the power couple is putting down roots in the Midwest. Last year, the couple bought a 1.925 million dollar home in Kansas City. There, they live with their two dogs, Steel and Silver.
Last year, the pair showed off a small portion of the house and Mahomes shoe gallery on Bleacher Report. In the video, the NFL star said, "Setting down roots in Kansas City was huge for us. I think the people are what we love the most about Kansas City. He continued, "We're trying to be here for a long, long time."
The couple even created a foundation this past year that supports underprivileged youth in the KC area. The charity, titled 15 and and the Mahomies donated 15,000 to 15 local charities totaling $225,000.
To no ones surprise, the couple is often asked if theyre going to get married, but according to a post Matthews shared on their seven-year anniversary, the couple isnt in any rush to tie the knot.
