Now, based on the hit TV show's season three trailer, in which someone quite literally says "Eve is alive," you can bet Sandra Oh will be returning to your screen (as well as for a recently announced fourth season, too!).

How exactly her character interacts with assassin-turned-love-interest Villanelle, however, is fodder for the juiciest of season three theoriesones youll have to wait until the April 12 premiere on BBC America to watch play out.

Until then, its worth revisiting how your favorite TV characters got here in the first place. Shall we?

Eve and Villanelle try to move on from each other and fail miserably.

Youd think Villanelle would want nothing to do with Eve, whoin case you forgot stabbed Villanelle while they were lying in bed in the season one finale, but its quite the opposite.

At the start of season two, Villanelles only goal is to get to London from Paris and find Eve despite her injuries. She's convinced Eve plunged a knife into her stomach as an act of love. "She did it to show me how much she cared for me," Villanelle tells the boy recovering in the hospital bed next to hers.

Meanwhile, Eve's back in London and working for MI6 again. Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw) recruited her to join a task force dedicated to tracking down a new assassin they call the Ghost, who murdered Alister Peel, a tech mogul, and his associates.

However, The Twelve wind up tracking down Villanelle before she can make contact with Eve. Her new handler, Raymond (UGH) gives her strict orders to make her killings look more discreet. No more season one shenanigans, like dressing men up in dresses after she shoots them or stabbing them in the eyeballs with poison-filled hairpins.

Naturally, this bores Villanelle to tears, and she ditches Raymond for her old handler, Konstantin, who convinces her to work freelance.

Konstantin is all too excited to tell Villanelle about how preoccupied Eve is with a new assassin, and urges her to forget about Eve. She cant. Instead, she puts on a bloody show in Amsterdam, hoping Eve will show up to investigate, but she never does.

Little does Villanelle know, Eve tried to convince Carolyn to let her investigate, but was ordered to ditch her "psychosexual fixation" and do some "actual work." Ouch.

Now that Villanelles for hire, Eve takes advantage.

When MI6 tracks down the Ghosta total badass, btwshe reveals that her one and only fear is Villanelle. Banking on this new chance to hit Villanelle up, Eve recommends MI6 use Villanelle to convince the Ghost to spill the deets on Alister Peels death. But instead of tracking Villanelle down and asking her to help, Eve decides to lure her in. How? By putting a hit out on herself.

Now this, Villanelle likes. She dresses up in her best gown and shows up at Eves house. Shes wanted nothing more than a night alone with Eveeven if she is contractually obligated to kill her at the end of it. The meeting is mostly just heavy breathing, and Villanelle does that thing where she puts her face super close to Eves. By the end, Eves not only still alive, but she's also brought Villanelle up to speed on the plan, and they hop in the car to get info from the Ghost.

It only takes Villanelle a few minutes to get the Ghost to admit Alisters son, Aaron, hired her to kill his father so he could take over the company. See, Aaron has weaponized data on pretty much everyone on the planet, and he's trying to sell it.

Soon, Eve comes up with a new plan to get Villanelle to earn Aarons trust, and Villanelle agrees. After all, its a chance for Villanelle to put one of her many accents to use, blow some coin on new clothes, and of course, do something for her darling Eve.

Villanelle ends up doing what she always does.

This Aaron guy is a major weirdo. Hes without a doubt a megalomaniac and probably a psychopath like Villanelle. Now, theyre hanging out. What could go wrong?

Spoiler: Lots of things.

First, Villanelle pretends to be Billie, an American with pink hair and a drug problem. Aaron takes a liking to her after he repeatedly insults her intelligence and forces her to eat some really expensive pasta. He takes her to Rome where he films her, forces her to dress a certain way, and most importantly sit in on meetings with potential buyers for his tech weapon.

Things are going fine until Eve, whos listening in from a hotel around the corner, hears Villanelle use the safe word and rushes to her rescue. Some other things happen, but the most important part is when Villanelle slits Aarons throatwhich was absolutely NOT the planand tells Eve to run away with her.

Well, as it turns out, getting Villanelle to kill Aaron actually was the planMI6 just didnt tell Eve and Villanelle. They knew, despite instructions, Villanelle wouldnt be able to resist killing him, and Eve couldnt resist Villanelle.

Naturally, Eves pissed. So when The Twelve send Raymond to "terminate" Villanelle, Eve jams an ax into his head to save her life. But, when she finds out Villanelle had a gun the whole time and could have shot Raymond herself, Eve gets angry.

The way Villanelle sees it, she and Eve are finally the same now that they both have blood on their hands. But Eve? Not so much. She ignores Villanelle, who's professing her love to her, and storms off. That's when Villanelle pulls the trigger, and the credits roll.
