Gypsy Rose Blanchard, the 27-year-old who inspired Hulu's hit show The Act , made headlines last week when news broke that she got engaged in prison while serving a 10-year sentence for the murder of her mom, Dee Dee. Now, she's reportedly sporting a new engagement ring, but-get this-it's not from her fianc (whose identity, btw, is being kept private by Gypsy and her family).
A family friend, Fancy Macelli, told E! News that the ring-which reportedly has a gold band-is actually from another inmate at Missouri's Chillicothe Correctional Center where Gypsy is incarcerated. "Another inmate was getting divorced and gave her that for her to just have, so that she could feel good about it," she told the publication. "They'll go together and pick out rings, obviously later, at a time when she's out and they could do that and have their own intimate moment."
Okay, but let's back up for a sec- who is Gypsy engaged to? Well, you already know it's not Nick Godejohn, Gypsy's ex-boyfriend who murdered her mother Dee Dee for her. According to In Touch , Gypsy met her now-fianc through a prison pen pal program. "He started writing her and then visited her," Macelli told the publication. "They just grew to have a relationship Theyre taking it slow. They dont know exactly what theyre going to do when she gets out. Its a long way down the road, obviously, so things can change."
Other than that, not much is know about Gypsy's fianc-and she and her family seem happy to keep it that way. Fair, since The Act thrust her private life into the public eye, which Gypsy's family doesn't totally love .
According to E! News, Gypsy is doing pretty well (all things considered) in prison and has made several close friends, with one inmate even asking her to serve as the godmother of her daughter. So maybe a few of them will be Gypsy's bridesmaids once she and her mystery man finally tie the knot?
