Carrie Underwood Opens Up About Body-After-Baby

Carrie Underwood, a.k.a. one of the all-time #fitspo queens ever, opened up in a powerful new Instagram post today about finding her way back to fitness-and accepting her postpartum body-after the birth of her second son.

"Im going to be honest, bouncing back after having Jacob has been much more difficult than after I had Isaiah and Ive been pretty hard on myself lately," the "Cry Pretty" singer shared. "I go into the gym and I cant run as fast or as far. I cant lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago. I just want to feel like myself again...for my body to feel the way that I know it can."

I go into the gym and I cant run as fast or as far. I cant lift as much weight or do as many reps as I could a year ago. I just want to feel like myself again...for my body to feel the way that I know it can. As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me. It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk. As I prepare for red carpets and for life on tour, right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it cant. I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal. Im going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as Im always working towards my goals, one day Ill reach them. Im going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do! #bodyafterbaby #fitmom #healthy #staythepath @caliabycarrie A post shared by Carrie Underwood (@carrieunderwood) on Mar 19, 2019 at 8:42am PDT

In a statement I'm sure all new moms can relate to, she continues: "As I was working out today, I realized that for the past 11(ish) months, my body has not belonged to me," she writes. "It was a perfect home for Jacob. And even now it belongs to him every time he drinks his milk."

The 36-year-old singer, who also has a 3-year-old son Isaiah with husband Mike Fisher, first shared the news about the birth of their second son, Jacob Bryan Fisher, on Instagram back in January. "Jacob Bryan Fisher entered the world in the wee hours of the morning on Monday...his mom, dad and big brother couldnt be happier for God to trust them with taking care of this little miracle!" she wrote. "Our hearts are full, our eyes are tired and our lives are forever changed. Life is good..."

In true Carrie fashion, the singer (who also is celebrating the 4th anniversary of her Calia By Carrie athleisure line this week) brings it home with her relentless optimism and inspiring perspective: "Right now I make a promise to myself to start appreciating what my body CAN do and stop focusing on what it cant. I promise to stop analyzing every angle and every curve and every pound and every meal. Im going to keep staying the path because it is a journey and as long as Im always working towards my goals, one day Ill reach them."

If you're in the same boat-not feeling exactly where you'd like to be, whether you're coming back from an injury, time off, or a baby like Carrie-post this quote of hers on your mirror and repeat it every day: "Im going to take it day by day, smile at the girl in the mirror, and work out because I love this body and all it has done and will continue to do!"
