Actress Martha Ankomah has dismissed claims that she has reached a GHS 300,000 settlement with Kumawood actor Kwadwo Nkansah (LilWin) in their ongoing GH₵5 million defamation lawsuit.

This follows initial reports that an agreement was reached on Tuesday, 25th February, after a previous breakdown in negotiations, which was announced in open court.

According to StarrFM.com.gh, as part of the settlement process, both parties are required to file the agreed terms and appear before the court on 1st April 2025, where Justice Forson Baah Agyepong will adopt it as a consent judgment.

However, reacting to the reports in an interview with Adom FM, Martha Ankomah clarified that no such settlement had been agreed upon.

It is not true that we have reached this settlement. It’s sad—I don’t know who is writing those stories. The truth is that when we went to court, the judge directed us to return with the apology. So on 1st April, we will go back to court and review the apology to ensure that it is acceptable.

She further stated:

I have previously indicated that if he apologises and retracts his statements, I would not take anything from him, maybe just our legal costs. But I don’t want anything from him—not a dime.

She added:

I just want him to do the right thing so that people understand that you cannot say anything and get away with it in this country. This is simply to serve as a lesson. I am not perfect—everyone makes mistakes and should be forgiven—but I want him to realise that the law works in this country.

The court has made no decision on the settlement. We are just waiting for the apology, and whatever the judge decides will be communicated to the public. His previous apology was inadequate because he failed to retract his statements, including the insults and lies—he went too far.

Meanwhile, both parties have agreed to return to court on 1st April 2025 for the terms to be officially adopted as a consent judgment.
