The Chief Executive Officer of EIB Network, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, has revealed that he almost went blind during his first days at Accra Academy Senior High School.

Bola Ray made this revelation in an interview on TV3’s on Wednesday.

According to him, as part of a ritual done for fresh students dubbed ‘homo night’, some final year students organised a mock examination. A paper, he said, was thrown to him and even before he could touch it, the invigilator came to him and accused him of cheating.

“He picked the paper up and the answer to the question on the board was answered in it,” Bola told show host, Nana Aba Anamoah.“I was asked to go out and in my mind I thought I was going to be sacked but they were doing that just to homo us. As we were being walked out, a senior came straight to me and dropped a bowl of pepper on me. In fact, he put the whole bowl of hot red pepper on my head and… I blacked out,” he narrated.“I couldn’t see anything. I was rushed to the Cocoa Clinic where I was hospitalised for several days. I received treatment for a long time. I almost lost my eyes and after a while the doctor told me I had to wear glasses and here I am today,” Bola Ray added.

According to him, the incident which happened in the early 90s was managed by his family and the school, “since it was a ‘homos’ night” adding, “they didn’t want the whole thing to escalate”.
