The Ghanaian singer has missed attending the 3-day demonstration, however, she is making it known that she supports the agitation of the masses who showed up and the others using their social media platforms to create awareness.
Revealing why she missed attending the protest in Accra, the singer whilst speaking on Cape Coast-based Property FM, said: “me I just came back from America and I have been in America for four months and I just came back and when I came back I had to do some rounds".
In a conversation with Amansan Krakye the host of the show, she also stated that “but as for this country, I don’t know but I think our leaders don’t care about us that much and that’s what I can say".
According to the ‘Borkor Borkor’ hitmaker, amidst the economic hardship, the government has completely ignored the citizens. “The government has completely ignored us and they are not doing what they are supposed to do and they’re spending the money anyhow".
The "Occupy Julorbi House," protesters first hit the street on Thursday, September 21, 2023, and that resulted in the police arresting some of the protesters including journalist Bridget Otoo.
In response to these events, numerous celebrities, including Sarkodie, have condemned the police and the government for their harsh response to what was essentially a peaceful protest.
Sarkodie's post, which read, "You can only be scared of a peaceful protest when you know you deserve otherwise," was met with criticism on social media, with some users suggesting he would have been more outspoken if the NDC were in power.
