The Traditional Council of the University Hall (Kantaga) of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, under the leadership of its Chief Linguist has threatened to go on a demonstration to protest the hike in fees if school authorities don’t reduce the fees in the next 6 days.

The Chief Linguist of Katanga Hall, Mr. Benard Adjei said the students were prepared to trot the streets of the university to express their angst against the exorbitant charges if no reasonable reductions are made to the fees by Monday 14th August, 2017.

The traditional council described the continued rise in the fees as ‘milking a cow’ and a deviation from the intent of the school system serving the public good.

The Katangees have gone a step further in their protest as they are the first group of students to publicly ask for a decrease in the residential fees that have also surged unexplainably.

Mr. Adjei told Radio Univers that if the case is not addressed by Monday, the council would send a petition to the University’s Chancellor, Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II during their protest.

‘We are looking at next week Monday, if nothing is done, we will just hit the streets. We already have a petition written down. If we submit it to the Chancellor himself, that is, His Majesty Otumfour Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia palace, we know things will be done right’’ he said.
