Hundreds of Ghanaians have thronged to the streets of Accra to celebrate the victory of Nana Akufo-Addo.

They thronged to the streets as it was announced that President John Mahama has called Nana Akufo-Addo to concede defeat. With their car horns all blazing, music on full blast and deep-hearted screaming, supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party danced in the streets to the National Democratic Congress’ campaign songs clad in party colours.

After two unsuccessful attempts in 2008 and 2012, Nana Akufo-Addo has been third time lucky with an emphatic victory in this year’s elections. The NPP has also regained control of the Parliament.

Mrs Charlotte Osei, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, is set to officially declare Mr Akufo-Addo as president-elect.
Akufo-Addo will take the oath of office on Saturday January 7, 2016.
