Sports Minister wants quota system in Black Stars selection

Youth and Sports Minister designate, Hon Kwame Asiamah has indicated his commitment in ensuring that local players would be given a specific number in the selection of players into the Black Stars.

Only one local based played was invited to the Black Stars, as they participated in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon-Richard Ofori of Wa All Stars.

And the MP of Atwima Mponua constituency, Asiamah, the Sports Minister nominee who has domestic football at heart believes a quota should be allocated for players on the local scene in inviting players to the Black Stars.

“We need to develop our domestic league. We must have local content in the selection of players into the national team,” he told the appointment Committee during his vetting.
