A court in Assin Foso has remanded the chief of a village in the Central Region and thirteen others for exhuming the body of man.
A video, that has been widely shared on various social media channels, shows some citizens of Assin Dansame removing a coffin from the grave of man whose name has been given as Koo Emma shortly after he it had been buried.

Nana Twum Barimah V said he needed to carry out the threat to serve as a deterrent to other residents who may want to emulate Koo Emma.

“They have been charged with conspiracy to exhume a corpse, exhuming a corpse and causing fear and insecurity by their action. All the fourteen suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Joe Louis of the Assin Foso police, asked the court to remand the suspects in police custody to help the police fine-tune their investigations,” Accra-based Citi FM reports.
The court president over by His Lordship Samuel Ntim Jnr thus remanded the 14 people into official custody and ordered for them to be brought back to court on Monday July 10, 2017.
