Six persons have been arrested in connection with various offenses, including violence and public facility seizure in the Brong Ahafo region.
In the aftermath of President Akufo-Addo’s victory the 2016 general elections, many people believed to be supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) went on a rampage, destroying and seizing public facilities.
The police earlier reported that they had arrested certain perpetrators, and six more have now been grabbed in relation to the post-election seizures.
The six, identified as Alex Asare, 43; Justice Appiah, 45; Yaa Achiaa; Emmanuel Asare; Joshua Owusu and Eric Amoyisi have all been arraigned before court.

In a statement signed by the Director/Public Affairs, Superintendent Cephas Arthur, the police revealed that Alex Asare, said to be the 1st Vice Chairman of the NPP together with his wife, Yaa Achiaa assaulted their victims to forcibly take over public facilities.
Emmanuel Asare, Joshua Owusu and Eric Amoyisi, were also arrested for attacking and inflicting cutlass wounds on one Eric Kwame.The statement said that a total of 16 people had been arrested by the Brong Ahafo Regional Police and arraigned before court.

The police assured that they were doing their possible best to protect public properties, and urged the public to desist from all forms of violent acts.

“While the Police are making every effort to protect lives and properties across the country, we are calling on members of the public to desist from taking the law into their own hands and committing acts of criminality. All aggrieved persons in any situation are advised to resort to the due process to seek redress,” the statement added.
