The Public Utility Regulatory Commission has charged striking ECG workers to return to work.

The workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana have been on strike to press home demands for government to rescind its decision to give away operations of ECG to a private concessionaire for twenty years.

“Understand that this is an essential service. We need some kind of calm in the sector to be able to do what we have to do to ensure that consumer get the right kind of service.”

“We came out of load shedding and these things are not really good at this time when we need to makes sure there is a smooth stabilisation of power.” Strike to continue Workers of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), will today [Monday], continue with day two of their sit down strike.

The Public Utility Workers Union, who have led the boycott of the delivery of services by staff of ECG, asked the workers to continue the strike that was supposed to last for three-days last week.

Workers have not been at post on Monday, with the exception of critical areas like hospitals and security posts.
