Legendary highlife musician Abrantie Amakye Dede has been installed as a Chief at Agogo in the Ashanti Region of Ghana.

At a colourful ceremony held on January 1, 2018, Amakye Dede was honored with a Chieftaincy title by the Omanhene of Asante Akyem Agogo, Nana Kwame Akuoko Sarpong.
The multiple award-winning singer will now be known as Berima Okyeredom Amakye Dede I, as bestowed upon him as stool name.
The Agogohene believes that the legendary highlife artiste has contributed tremendously to the development of the town.
According to him, the honorary chieftaincy title is in appreciation of Amakye Dede for his goodwill towards the community, which includes the construction of a new hotel at Agogo.
Amakye Dede also pledged to take his role seriously and to help uphold the dignity of his office.

“I want to assure nananom that I will take my responsibility very seriously and I will do everything to uphold the dignity of this office and I will not let you down in any undertakings that I have to do”, sections of his acceptance speech read.
He now joins an increasing list of Ghanaian celebrities who have been installed as Chiefs in the country.
Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kwaku Kyei was also installed as Obrempon of Agogo, with his stool name given as Obrempon Kwaku Kyei.
