On 7th February, 2008, Cameroon rode high on a 70th minute strike by Alian Nkongs to end Ghanas quest for gold in the 26th African Cup of Nations (AFCON). Cameroon won the semifinal clash decided at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra 1-0.
The victory did put the Cameroonians in line to pursue a fifth Nations Cup glory at the biennial tournament, but in the end they lost the final to Egypt by the same margin.

The goal came against the run of play after the Lions had managed to soak lots of pressure from the Ghanaians, who started aggressively from recess. It was indeed the first chance of the Cameroonians in the second half.
