Hearts to face the test of Inter Allies at El Wak

Inter Allies will host Hearts of Oak at their adopted home grounds, El Wak Sports Stadium, Accra on Monday in opening day of the 2016-17 Ghana Premier league.

Inter Allies

Inter Allies have a new technical handler in the person of Prince Yaw Owusu, after they parted ways with Jimmy Kobblah.

Frederick Boateng, the former skipper of West African Football Academy (WAFA) will hand Inter Allies a big boost, after he failed to land a deal with Egyptian side, Makawloon . Last season he scored nine goals to emerge as the club’s topscorer.

Gorkel Ahortor was the club’s best player last season and scored seven goals, with five coming from the direct free-kick, so he will be the man that Inter Allies would still be relying on this season.

Inter Allies escaped relegation on the last day of last season, so they would want to avoid that this term.

Hearts of Oak

The Phobians will start their Ghana Premier league campaign with assistant coach Henry Wellington, but there are reports that Frank Nuttall, a Scottish coach is in the country having talks with the Hearts of Oak board for a possible takeover as the technical head.

Hearts Oak’s player of last season Mustapha Essuman has been transferred to a Zambian side, so it would create a big hole in their midfield.

However, they signed an equally quality player from Medeama, Malik Akowuah to marshal the midfield.

Cosmos Dauda was Hearts of Oak’s topscorer last season with 11 goals. He was a torn in the flesh of most defenders last season and he is expected to be a major source of goal this season for Hearts.

Inusah Musah, the Ghana Premier League defender of the season will be relied on to give Hearts of Oak backline the needed stability as he partners, club’s captain Robben Gnagne.
