President of the Ghana football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi has joked that the Black Starlets could reach 20 goals in the ongoing U-17 Africa Cup of Nations if they continue with their ruthlessness in front of goal.

Ghana’s Black Starlets are the highest scorers in the tournament, having scored nine goals in three matches so far.

The side will face Niger later on Wednesday for a place in the final of the tournament being played in Gabon, and will need to be at their best to defeat their opponents.

GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi believes the team has what it takes to get to the final and possibly win the trophy. And while he cautioned the team to be focused and not get swollen headed, he also joked that he had told some of his friends that the Starlets’ goal fest is not going to end anytime soon.

“At this moment don’t be swollen headed because this is just the beginning to stardom because we (Ghana) were the first team to quality to the World Cup, and the World Cup is the biggest stage which is in October,” Nyantakyi is quoted as saying by Starrfmonline.com.

“So just stay focus and don’t be carried away by praises. I have jokingly told my colleagues Ghana will be scoring 20 goals and so far Ghana we have scored 9 goals.”

The Black Starlets topped group A after recording heavy victories over Cameroon and Gabon, before drawing their last match against Guinea.
