According to the football body, the new man to be hired as Black Stars coach will also be tasked to steer the affairs of the Local Black Stars.
The local Black Stars is a team made up of solely home-based players (players plying their trade in the Ghana Premier League), and has in recent times had a different coach from the main Black Stars.
The team was formed to be able to participate in the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) organized by CAF to give home-based players exposure on the continent – and the competition has the same format as the Africa Cup of Nations.
After an Emergency Committee meeting held by members of the GFA on Tuesday, it was unanimously decided that the new coach of the Black Stars will also be handling the local Black Stars.
“The new Black Stars coach will also take charge of the Local Black Stars as the head coach of the home-based national team,” a statement from the association read.
Maxwell Konadu has been tasked to lead the Black Stars in an interim role, however, it remains to be seen who the next Black Stars coach will be.
