Konadu served as an assistant to immediate-past Ghana coach, Avram Grant but will hence be serving in an interim role after members of the GFA agreed to the decision.

The Executive Committee of the GFA held an emergency meeting on Tuesday to decide the way forward for the Black Stars after the departure of Avram Grant.

Frank Nelson Nwonkolo – an Executive Committee member present at the meeting – has confirmed that the former Kotoko coach will be taking charge of the Black Stars until a permanent coach is hired.

“Everybody is aware Grant’s contract ends today [Tuesday, February 28] but for now assistant coach Maxwell Konadu will lead the Black Stars till a substantive coach is appointed.  Konadu will be supported by the technical directorate of the FA,” Nelson is quoted as saying by Starfmonline.

Acting in an interim role is not new to Maxwell Konadu, having risen to the same post back in 2014 when Kwasi Appiah was sacked.
