Members of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have organised a meeting despite a statement issued by the suspended chairman Paul Afoko asking NEC to ignore the meeting by the second vice chairman and acting chairman of the party, Freddie Blay.
NPP snubs Afoko's 'illegal' statement; holds NEC meeting
According to Mr. Afoko, he is unaware of the meeting neither is the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong.

The spokesperson for Paul Afoko, Nana Yaw Osei, said members of NEC must take notice of an “interim injunction served on the party restraining the party and Mr. Freddie Blay from holding any meetings and also holding himself out as the acting national chairman, until the substantive motion is heard and disposed of”.
But NEC called the bluff of Mr Afoko and held the meeting without the general secretary Kwabena Agyepong who was allegedly attacked by the party's Invincible forces at the headquarters on October 27, 2015.
This was as a result of a writ by three members of the party seeking for an injunction to be placed on the executives who will attend the meeting.
Kwabena Agyepong had the back screen of his four-wheel drive damaged.
Report indicates that some members of parliament and various regional chairmen also attended the meeting.
Below is the full statement by Mr Afoko
"The attention of the National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr. Paul A. Afoko, has been drawn to yet another illegal NEC meeting being called by the First Vice Chairman, Mr. Freddie Blay.
The meeting is slated for Tuesday, 3/11/2015 at the conference hall party headquarters.
Mr. Afoko wishes to state that he has not called any meeting neither has the General Secretary, Mr. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, issued any notice inviting members to attend any meeting.
Let all members of the National Executive Committee and/or National Council take notice that notice of an interim injunction has been served on the party restraining the party and Mr. Freddie Blay from holding any meetings and also holding himself out as the acting national chairman, until the substantive motion is heard and disposed of."
Thank you.
Nana Yaw Osei
Spokesperson for National Chairman, NPP.
