Kwabena Agyepong's vehicle attacked at NPP headquarters

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party Kwabena Agyepong (NPP) has been attacked by the party's Invincible forces at the headquarters.

Kwabena Agyepong had the back screen of his four-wheel drive damaged.

This was as a result of a writ by three members of the party seeking for an injunction to be placed on the executives who will attend the meeting.

They argued that once a writ for an interlocutory injunction has been filed at the High Court, members who will attend the meeting will be in contempt of the court.

However, the steering committee defied the writ and held the meeting but the party's general secretary stormed out of the meeting and was attacked.

His driver and bodyguard according to reports are seriously injured and his windscreen smashed.

The committee of the party were locked up in a meeting to discuss what to do with Paul Afoko after he issued a statement on Tuesday still in his capacity as chairman of the party to congratulate Alassane Ouatarra for wining his second term bid as president of Ivory Coast.

The gentlemen, Tweneboah Kodua Emmanuel, Stephen Owusu and Joseph Oppong are seeking an injunction to prevent the National Executive Committee from conducting affairs of the party without Paul Afoko.

The writ says “that the decision to suspend the national chairman by the said organized meeting is illegal and patently contrary to the party’s constitution.”

Speaking on Citi FM, Martin Kpevu said "Mr. Blay cannot hide behind anything and say he has not been served, once Mr. Kwabena Agyepong has been served it means that the NPP has been served so there can be no such meeting."

On Friday the 23 of October 2015 a National Executive Committee meeting was held chaired by First Vice chairman now acting Chairman Freddie Blay to adopt a recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee to suspend Paul Afoko indefinitely and with immediate effect.

Mr. Afoko has a two week window of opportunity to appeal the decision by writing to the party’s Council of Elders. But Mr. Afoko has since denied that he has been suspended and has emphasized that the meeting to suspend him was convened illegally.
