A youth group calling itself ‘Concerned Youth of Atiwa East’ on Tuesday (April 25, 2017) demonstrated over the appointment of a District Chief Executive by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

They argued that since the district was created all the DCEs have been appointed from Atiwa West Constituency creating the notion that the Atiwa East Constituency has no competent people from their area.

The Youth are therefore calling on the President to nominate a 2016 parliamentary aspirant of the NPP in Atiwa East constituency for the DCE post.

The leader of the group, Samuel Mireku, accused some party members of attempting to push for their cronies and friends to be appointed as DCE hence making unfounded allegations of dual citizenship and fraud against the people’s favourite.

He cautioned that if this continues the party in the constituency may collapse if the President does not heed to their advice.

Hundreds of residents mostly supporters of the governing NPP took part in the peaceful demonstration. They were clad in red dresses and headgears; others also carried placards to register their displeasure.
