The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during his five-day tour of the northern part of the Western Region savaged the president for the poor nature of the roads in the region.

However, beginning a five-day campaign in the region Tuesday, the National Democratic Congress(NDC) flagbearer told an ecstatic crowd that Akufo-Addo slept during his campaign that is why he did not see any good roads.

According to president Mahama, most of the roads constructions in the country are in the Western region because of the strategic importance of the region.

He said: “I promised that we will invest monies into cocoa roads. So if you realise, the majority of roads we are doing are all in the western region.

    However, in a sharp rebuke of the president’s comments on Citi FM, Mr Hamid said the president is downgrading the level of political discourse in the country.

    “I am very sad because presidential discourse is supposed to be a discourse of reasoning, a discourse of logic, a discourse of intellectual depth, He said. “ For a president to reduce political discourse to such gibe description is flighty and unpresidential.”

    According to Mr Hamid, such discourse that the president has ignited should be left to party footsoldiers.

    He added that he was not surprised at the president because the NDC has made it their campaign strategy to attack the NPP flagbearer, citing comments from the party's campaign launch to back his claims.
