The female appointees in the Mahama-led administration are performing better than their male counterparts.
This was revealed by President John Mahama during a campaign rally in Nsawam in the Eastern Region as part of his five-day tour.
President Mahama said he was handicapped in selecting more women because there were a few of them in Parliament. He argued that the constitutional provision requires that majority of ministers must come from parliament which makes it impossible to appoint more women.
He, therefore, urged the electorates of Nsawam Adoagyiri constituency to vote for the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate in the constituency, Benedicta Asante.
Most gender activists have been advocating for more women to be elected to parliament and also occupy other political roles.
