Lawyer for the three members of the NPP who have sued the party for suspending, Paul Afoko as chairman of the party says a steering committee meeting to be held today by the NEC of the party is illegal.

The lawyer Martin Kpevu argues that once a writ for an interlocutory injunction has been filed at the High Court members who will attend the meeting will be in contempt of the court.

The gentlemen, Tweneboah Kodua Emmanuel, Stephen Owusu and Joseph Oppong are seeking an injunction to prevent the National Executive Committee from conducting affairs of the party without Paul Afoko.

Speaking on Citi FM, Martin Kpevu said "Mr. Blay cannot hide behind anything and say he has not been served, once Mr. Kwabena Agyepong has been served it means that the NPP has been served so there can be no such meeting."

On Friday the 23 of October 2015 a National Executive Committee meeting was held chaired by First Vice chairman now acting Chairman Freddie Blay to adopt a recommendation of the party’s disciplinary committee to suspend Paul Afoko indefinitely and with immediate effect.

Mr. Afoko has a two week window of opportunity to appeal the decision by writing to the party’s Council of Elders. But Mr. Afoko has since denied that he has been suspended and has emphasized that the meeting to suspend him was convened illegally.
