NPP Chairman arrested over member's death

The Asawase constituency chairman of the New Patriotic Party Isaac K Brenya has been arrested by the Police over the murder of a party member Abubakar Saddiq last week.This was revealed at a press conference by the Ashanti regional police command on Monday, November 9.

 

Abubakar Saddique bled to death after being stabbed several times last Friday. The death occurred after a brawl between supporters for MR. Paul Afoko and supported of Nana Akufo Addo over some derogatory comments made by Asawase constituency chairman.

The police have however said they are treating the matter purely as a murder case devoid of political or tribal factionalism

“This is a murder investigation devoid of any partisan or any sectional consideration. We don’t know any factions; all that we know is that somebody has been killed.” Ashanti Regional Police commander DCOP Kofi Boakye told journalists.

Due to the “serious nature of the crime the investigation is under the direct command of the regional commander and under the supervision of the crime officer. DCOP Boakye said.

He said the police have arrested one Bawa Musah who was involved in the chasing of the deceased. Another  person Big man Nebu  who was holding a locally manufactured pistol and Duna alias Mohammed who stabbed Sadique Abubakari.

Meanwhile Awal Mohammed and Tanko Abubakar have been arrested for vandalizing the NPP Asawase party office.

This is second time this year somebody has died allegedly tied to the factionalism in the NPP.

The Upper East NPP chairmanAdam Mahama was murdered in May this year after he openly condemned some actions by the Mr. Paul Afoko.
