Jubilee Innovation Challenge launched for app developers

The competition is opened to persons between the ages of 18 to 35 years. The Universal Merchant bank is providing a cash price of Ghc 100,000.00 for the overall winner.

The events sub-committee of the Ghana at 60 Anniversary Committee has launched an app challenge opened for all Ghanaian youth.

The app challenge which is one of their flagship programs is dubbed, “Jubilee Innovation Challenge (JIC)”.

The target group for this challenge is the Ghanaian youth. All interested entrants are expected to develop mobile Apps that can be relevant to the Ghanaian way of doing things in everyday life and in the business sector.

The second runner up will take home Ghc 75,000.00 cash prize to be sponsored by an institution which is yet to be named.

At the press launch of the competition the Managing Director of the UMB  John Awuah, said his company hopes the entrants will develop very innovative apps that will help shape the social and business sectors of the Ghanaian people.

The Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid just before launching the competition, called on the Ghanaian youth to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the competition.

He was optimistic there will be some problem-solving apps developed through this competition.
