Ashanti Regional security services deploy 140 personnel to flush out galamseyers

The Ashanti Regional Polcie Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah said that the security services are putting in enough effort to ensure the region is free from galamsey in the near future.

The Regional Police Command and the military in the Ashanti region have jointly deployed 140 armed security personnel to flush out illegal miners operating at Obuasi and Susanso.

The Ashanti Regional Polcie Commander DCOP Ken Yeboah said this after a tour to security installations in the region with the Ashanti regional minister Simon Osei Mensah.

He said that the security services are putting in enough effort to ensure the region is free from galamsey in the near future.

He added that this is in support of the media and government’s war against the galamsey menace.

The government has ordered illegal miners to stop and vacate the sites. After this announcement, over 500 excavators seized from the illegal mining sites.
