One dies after three fell into galamsey pit

A young lady being taken through driving lessons accidentally drives into abandoned galamsey pit leaving her dead as two other occupants survived with injuries

One person has feared dead after three persons fell into an abandoned galamsey pit at Kwabedu, a suburb of the Tarkwa Nsuaem municipality of the Western region.

The two others have been hospitalized.

A resident of the community, who spoke to Pulse news said

"the unfortunate incident happened yesterday about 9:00 pm when the three including the deceased, who is a young lady went for a driving lessons and accidentally fell into the pit".

Narrating the unfortunate incident, he said the deceased was being taken through some driving lessons and after the lessons, the deceased opted to drive the car back home.

However before she could finish fastening her seat belt, she accidentally pressed the accelerator and the vehicle moved its occupants into the nearby abandoned galamsey pit.

The driver died instantly leaving two other occupants injured.

He said the Father and his son survived the accident but the lady died instantly.

The lifeless body has been deposited at the Tarkwa Government Hospital morgue.

Meanwhile, reports say the other two are responding to treatment at the same hospital.
