Ex-convict arrested for armed robbery

Mallam Sulemana, alias Romeo has been arrested for robbing students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) at their hostel at Ayeduase, near Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The ex-convict, who is currently in custody, identified Abass, Akwasi, and Kolo as his accomplices.

The robbery incident happened on Monday, May 22, after which police upon tip off arrested him.

A search and investigations by the police on the suspect retrieved a locally manufactured pistol, two Nokia mobile phones, 10 BB live cartridges and a lady’s wrist watch.

The police also retrieved GH¢52 from the suspect.

Ken Yeboah, the Ashanti regional police commander addressing the media said the suspect admitted to the crime and was subsequently identified by his victims.

He said he is currently in police custody, assisting in investigations.
