Chief calls for establishment of watchdog committee

Residents at Amanfrom have fallen victims of robbery cases in the last few weeks with several reported injuries from the robberies, including a 15-year old girl who was stabbed.

 

Following robbery incidents at Amanfrom in the Ga South Municipality, the Chief of Ngleshie Amanfrom has called on community members to be security conscious to help fight crime in the area.

Residents at Amanfrom have fallen victims of robbery cases in the last few weeks with several reported injuries from the robberies,including a 15-year old girl who was stabbed.

According to Nii Gborlor, there is the need for residents to institute effective community watchdog committee in the area as the police cannot shoulder the responsibility alone.

“There should be proper security measures in our homes- we need to ensure security for ourselves. Police alone cannot shoulder the security issues in the area, hence the need for us to set up watchdog committees. I suggest that all property owners, the youth, landlord associations, should be involved in such an endeavour to augment police support in the area,” he said on Kasapa FM’s .

“We all need to be proactive and cooperate in bringing up measures that will respond to our security needs,” he added.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Alhassan has assured residents of Amanfrom that they will be protected from the robberswho have been subjecting them to constant torture.
