Video: La Liga goes ‘Twi’ as it celebrates Michael Essien on 37th birthday

The Spanish La Liga via its official Twitter handle has wished Ghanaian midfielder Michael Essien using Twi and English Pidgin languages.

Michael Essien in the 2012/13 season joined Real Madrid in the Spanish La Liga from Chelsea on loan, following his father-figure Jose Mourinho.

The former Lyon midfielder on his 37th birthday has been remembered by the La Liga and it was done in a remarkable fashion as the Ghanaian was wished using his native Twi language and English pidgin.

The La Liga English accounted tweeted: “We dey wish former @realmadriden and Black Stars midfielder @MichaelEssien afihyia pa as he turns 37 today”.

Michael Essien who was once rated among the finest midfielders in the world played 21 times for the os Blancos and scored twice.

He had an illustrious career with Lyon, Chelsea where he won several trophies including the French Ligue 1, English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, etc.

Michael Essien represented Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and featured in several Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
